IronCAD’s expands CAD Productivity

We’re excited to announce latest release of IronCAD 2018 Product Update #1.This update extends powerful functionality added in 2018 in addition to many usability improvements to increase design productivity in your design process.

The 3D CAD platform of choice among metal fabricators and custom machinery equipment manufacturers, IronCAD’s 2018 Product Update #1 adds features specifically designed to increase detailer productivity by streamlining the steps needed to move 3D designs into the 2D production drawings.

Since collaborative design workflows are critical for fabricators and machinery manufactures, IronCAD 2018 Product Update #1 also imports and exports to the latest native CAD formats, supporting collaboration between design groups that use different systems.
Key features of Product Update #1 including enhanced game-changing bulk drawing feature and a dramatically improved shrink wrap modeling simplification utility for more secure, more inclusive file sharing to support active collaboration. With the new process improvements for the bulk drawing creation, parts and assemblies can now be selected and can store predefined templates that automatically populate the bulk creation process. This stored information can be used in conjunction with IronCAD’s powerful Catalogs of pre-made designs, speeding up the reuse of existing designs and saving countless hours that might otherwise be spent preparing designs for detailing.

Product Update #1’s shrink wrap enhancements include more advance preparation options for packaging up designs and reducing outputted data such as shell representations of designs, supporting secure file sharing options for diverse use cases.

Continuing IronCAD’s reputation as the easiest-to-learn 3D CAD platform on the market, Product Update #1 also includes usability improvements such as:
Quick feature creation from existing geometry by simply pushing and pulling on face handles to create positive and negative shapes.

Streamlined interface that improves access and navigation to many common commands.
Simple reconnection tools that support IronCAD’s intelligent attachment capabilities making it easy to relocate connected elements.

New Creo releases

Did you catch the big announcement at this year’s LiveWorx? Starting in 2018, Creo will be moving to annual releases. Paul Sagar, PTC’s senior vice president of product management, broke the news earlier this year. Annual releases will benefit companies of every size. SMBs can get new features faster, while enterprise users can see how those new additions are working for everyone else before they implement them.

CAD segment senior vice president Brian Thompson says that moving to annual releases will allow PTC adapt to changes in the industry more quickly, which will be critical as the IoT and AR markets continue to grow and more companies move to subscription licensing. “As the interest in subscription expands, an annual release cycle allows us to deliver continuous value to our customers,” says Thompson. “The selection of Creo by companies of varying sizes and industries is a testament to the momentum in the market and the interest in the added capabilities PTC brings to the design process with IoT and AR.”

New Creo releases are scheduled to come out every March, starting with Creo 5 in March of 2018, Creo 6 in March of 2019, and Creo 7 in March of 2020.

Implementation of Windchill across plants in AGI Glaspac

Business Impact:
New product development lead time reduced by almost 30%. In less than 3 weeks AGI
could make the concept a reality. Sales from New products grown significantly with increase in customers
satisfaction. As the hassle of releasing up to date drawings for manufacturing every time is taken away, Productivity increased from Design and development team.
The Challenge:
AGI started a new plant and the capacity almost doubled, obviously we needed to develop and market new products rapidly. With manual Enquiry process and release of drawings, the risk of delay and errors were very high, reworking of moulds re drawing samples were at a huge cost due to continuous process nature of Glass making , therefore we were looking to Automate enquiry and drive the entire product development cycle.
The Solution:
Windchill was a natural solution for us as we were already partners with PTC and Adroitec with Pro/E software for our CAD needs.
Implementation:
AGI implemented Windchill across plants. Enquiry process is automated and Marketing team can now generate enquiries from customers place and get online feedback and kick start product development and give approvals. Internal teams comprising Mould shop, Forming and quality get task to complete, with online access to latest drawings and 3D CAD data, practically scope of errors became zero.

RAAW: A New Take on the Mountain Bike

German language magazine, Prime Mountain Bike, recently published a story about the RAAW Madonna, an aluminum-frame enduro bike, meant to perform on rugged terrain.
Here are few excerpts:
Ruben Torenbeek is the man behind the RAAW brand, which he founded in 2016. Innovative ideas, a simple yet elegant design and a thoroughly thought-out design, make his RAAW Madonna come to life.

The RAAW Brand
After seven years of experience as a bike engineer and designer in the wheel industry, Torenbeek took the helm of the company. In his opinion, the wheel industry has focused on developing great revolutionary ideas. But has neglected the optimization of existing achievements.
With the most advanced hydroforming technology, RAAW seeks to show what is possible with aluminum. The company creates 3D CAD models with Creo Parametric software, to get the perfect maximum out of the aluminum frame construction. Modern forging, milling, and hydrforming technology creates a technical look with an independent design and an S-shaped lower tube.
The RAAW Madonna
In the development of the Madonna, the focus was on achieving trail bests and at the same time creating a long-lasting design and uncompromising functionality down to the smallest detail. The harder the trail, the higher speeds the Madonna should allow. But it should also offer the highest possible efficiency. Read the whole article here.
